British shirtmaker T.M.LEWIN partners with BMI to enter India

London / Mumbai, January 2013: UK’s leading quality shirtmaker, T.M.Lewin, today announced that it has entered into an exclusive franchise agreement with Brand Marketing India (BMI) to market and distribute T.M. Lewin branded products across the Indian Subcontinent.

Established in 1898 in Jermyn Street, London, T.M.Lewin designs and manufactures superior quality business wear for men and women. Their hand finished shirts, suits and accessories are crafted using many of the same traditional British tailoring techniques pioneered over a century ago.

BMI, the company responsible for the successful launch and development of the Calvin Klein Jeans, Calvin Klein Underwear and French Connection businesses in India, intends to open over 50 T.M.Lewin locations over the next five years, thereby, positioning the business to capitalize on the significant growth potential of the Indian market.

Geoff Quinn, CEO at T.M. Lewin said: ‘I am thrilled that T.M.Lewin will be entering into the Indian market. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to establish and grow a substantial business in the years ahead. We are also delighted to have secured a partnership with BMI and now look forward to working with them to introduce a new generation of Indian consumers to T.M. Lewin business wear, both in retail stores and online.’

Vijay Murjani, Chairman and MD of BMI said: “We firmly believe that T.M. Lewin, with its hallmark of impeccable British tailoring, combined with contemporary design at competitive prices, will be the perfect addition to the formal wear market in India."
