French Connection Spring Summer 13 Womenswear Collection

Spring Summer 13 at French Connection is light, feminine and chic, with a palette that combines clean neutral colours of black, grey, navy and white with flashes of pretty pastels and candy colours. Nods to work and play make for a comprehensive spring wardrobe.

The collection features strong Fifties influences in the form of colour, print and silhouette, with a focus on the waistline. Fifties style shirt dresses and dirndl skirts accentuate the waist for a ladylike shape and feature large scale blooms in pale blue hues. Florals continue and are prominent throughout the collection, ranging from delicate daisy embroideries to oversized digital floral prints.

Taking the soft tones a stage further, the relaxed move on the sports-luxe trend has been seen this season. Versatile staples include silk trousers made modern through the integration of lace or tailored construction, bringing the look up-to-date.

Looking to the evening, elegant party dresses are saturated in sequins, recontextualising familiar shapes like the bandage dress, while subtle sequins adorn simple separated giving a soft and feminine touch to daytime dressing.

Accessories come in a spectrum of colours- vivid shades of fuchsia, lemon yellow and jade stand out against the subtle palette while statement box clutches are lavishly embellished, making a well-known shape special.

French Connection Spring/ Summer 13 Menswear Collection

For SS13, French Connection re-introduces classic American male styling, mixing British influence into the timeless trends of military, Ivy League and surfing cultures. Presenting an array of tonal, washed out greys and chalky whites, the collection reworks a simplistic combination of muted and deep rustic colours including burgundy, navy and burnt orange.

Taking inspiration from traditional military and army design as a base, the season begins by combining dissimilar fabrics with modernised detailing to give this uniform a unique personality. Washed out denim have been distressed and cargo shorts and chinos have been re-coloured to create an overall clean, simple Spring look.

Ivy League styling mixed with recreational boating makes a substantial appearance throughout the collection featuring classic wardrobe essentials and newly reimagined pieces. Soft washed shirtings, brighter colours and bold stripes stay true to the collection’s inspiration, whilst cosmopolitan influences rework patterned tees and tailored shirts. Primary yellows and Indian reds make a splash to create a bold contrast between the hot and cold tones of the season’s colour palette.

Completing the collection is a mixture of bohemian and retro summer pieces, from Hawaiian shirt prints in muted soft colours to swimwear shorts in floral designs. Casual tees with playful print designs and rolled sleeves are perfectly paired with above-the-knee lightweight shorts for that summer holiday appearance.

FCUK is more relaxed with a mix of washed, laundered, worn and vintage pieces. Vintage detailing is key to the collection with unique trims highlighting unusual button detailing and fastenings. The style staple strip is also used heavily across the collection with a mix of stripe on stripe designs sitting alongside the classic Breton stripe.

Summer accessories are updated with simple design tweaks. Colourful striped socks, casual fedora hats and a wide range of textured belts are the perfect accompaniments to any weekend getaway.
