French Connection Presents Autumn Winter ‘15

A pre-collection capsule of transitional staples focuses firmly on denim. A simplified style guide owes to a cleaner silhouette, where trousers are offered in regular, skinny and extra skinny cuts. An emphasis on ‘Rip and Repair’ abrasions is a key feature throughout.

The core winter offering is all about minimalistic contrasts. The signature ‘F’ logo features throughout; both in oversized and mini prints but not necessarily tonal to the garment it sits on.

Comfort is key for AW15 and it’s important that pieces feel as good as they look. Shirts come in thicker fabrics; a piqué polo top reworks the classic cotton style, while sweats are plush and luxurious, backed in soft fleece. This season sees a new wash of color in the form of Dip Dye Polo Shirt. All over print will be seen across shirts, tees.

Red and blue bags are structural and oversized and stand out against a darker palette of black, navy and grey.

For AW15, French Connection draws inspiration from stylized rock icons of the 70’s and 80’s. Key trends are revisited to recreate this era of exciting change across the worlds of music and fashion. The collection celebrates each sub-culture, from mods to punks, representing the genre through technical detailing such as crochet lace & heavy embellishment.

A pre-collection of transitional staples presents languid silhouette. The flare is key, updating the classic black trouser and seen on easy-to-wear bell-bottom denim. Psychedelic paisley print dresses and a soft romantic lace dress shirt nod to the spirited aesthetic of Joni Mitchell and Stevie Nicks.

Studded biker jackets, skinny jeans and Jimi Hendrix groupie T shirts are predominately black or white with subtle pops of neon pink. Studs as embroidery, exposed zip fastenings and faceted crystal stones focus on the beginnings of customization in popular culture.

The core winter collection sees the introduction of rock royalty. Hedonism moves aside for slouchy layers and chunky knits. Checks and boyish tailoring that reference ‘This is England’, punk and late 80’s grunge. Animal prints are the leader of the pack this season, with its ultra-wearable fit.

Party season returns to the early 70’s and is all about glam rock. A mesh of styles covers everything from Hollywood glamour to pre-war cabaret theatrics. After-dark glamour is not forgotten though; embellished dresses with jeweled beads and thick fringe tassel details continue the theme of over-exaggerated evening dressing.
